Employing Romanian expertise and labor is a priority on the Autostrada Transilvania Project, which will subsequently contribute to economic growth along the alignment and strengthen the local employment skills base.
Autostrada Transilvania Employment Practices
For construction Projects such as Autostrada Transilvania, Bechtel typically establishes a core team to set up the project and then hires employees (both staff and craft) to meet construction schedule requirements. Wherever possible, such employees are recruited locally.
Projects such as Autostrada Transilvania go through various phases during construction, ranging from earthworks to civil, mechanical, and electrical works. This means that-although a project may run for several years--employees hired for a particular task may be on the project only for that specific part of construction. However, whenever possible, existing employees are retrained as other job opportunities arise, enabling the employee to maximize time on the project.
Environmental, Safety and Health
We strive to achieve the highest standard of environmental, safety and health performance. With that objective in mind, the project has adopted a Zero Accident Performance philosophy, which means we believe our work can be carried out without injury to employees or the environment. In the simplest terms this objective is, "No one gets hurt".
